The Sew Biz for Kids program allows the inner designer to come out and create their very own masterpiece from the initial inspiration to finished project.  

In this class, students will learn the basics of choosing and caring for fabrics, pattern reading, basic sewing techniques, and machine use, all during the making of several fun and useful projects. Sewing machines will be provided for all kids’ courses. 

A six week session of small projects to teach children how to use a sewing machine and develop basic hand sewing skills. Each week will focus on a different skill/project:
 
Week 1: Sewing Machine Basics & Making a Bean Bag.
Week 2: Travel Toothpaste & Toothbrush kit
Week 3: Pillow Case
Week 4: Pencil Case
Week 5: Mini Wallet
Week 6:  Catch-up

NOTE:  If you've already completed this program and would like to advance your sewing skills with new projects, please contact us to discuss.

Recommended for Age 8 and up please.

Classes are held on the following days in the Newmarket location:

Wednesdays; 4-5:30pm - September 17, 24, October 1, 8, 22, 29 (Note no class on October 15)

Class Fee: $129 (Plus Materials)

Each week students will be given a supply list for the following week's class.  Students need to bring supplies to each class.  Supplies required for week 1: 

  • Two  5" squares of cotton fabric, one cup of rice for fill.  
  • Neutral Sewing thread 
  • Scissors for cutting fabric
  • Seam ripper 
  • Soft measuring tape – 60” 
  • Hand Sewing Needles 
  • Pins & pin cushion 
  • Cookie tin or plastic box to store supplies
