Turn your quilting skills into a wearable work of art! These quilted sneakers are a fun and unique project that combines creativity, quilting, and sewing. Choose your preferred style, super low, low, or high profile, and create a pair of comfortable, stylish sneakers designed with quilters in mind. While there is some hand sewing involved, the finished result is truly SEW worth it!

Skill Level: Beginner to Experienced

Required Pattern: Classic Sneaker Pattern
Class registration fees do not include the cost of the pattern, sneaker kit, or supplies.

Students will need to purchase a Sneaker Kit (soles and inserts) available at The Quilt Store and should try them on before class to ensure the perfect fit. Waxed thread and needle are included with the Sneaker Kit.

Fabric Requirements

  • Quilted fabric prepared before class
  • Large-scale fabric prints are not recommended
  • Simple quilting designs work best, such as crosshatch or matchstick quilting

Homework:
Students are asked to pre-quilt their fabric before the first class. A simple quilting design is recommended to allow the sneaker construction process to go smoothly during class.

Additional Supplies:

  • Sewing machine in good working order
  • Sewing machine manual
  • Foot control and electrical cord
  • ¼" foot
  • Zipper foot
  • Optional edge-stitching foot
  • Machine needles (80/12 for 40 wt thread or 90/14 for 50 wt thread)
  • Neutral or contrasting thread
  • Fabric scissors
  • Snip scissors
  • Pins or clips
  • Seam ripper
  • Marking tools (chalk or pencil)
  • Cutting ruler
  • Stiletto (or seam ripper)
  • Paper and pen for notes
