Learn the basics of machine quilting while creating a beautiful set of self-binding placemats!
In this hands-on workshop, you’ll have the option to learn free-motion quilting (FMQ) or walking-foot straight-line quilting, making it a great class for both beginner and experienced quilters looking to build new skills.
You’ll learn how to prepare your project, practice your chosen quilting technique, and finish your placemats with beautiful mitered corners.
Please bring: Your sewing machine, a walking foot or FMQ foot, and a machine capable of lowering/drop-feeding the feed dogs.
Materials Needed:
- 0.75 m feature fabric for placemat fronts
- 1 m blender fabric for backing/ binding
- 0.75 m batting or Battilizer
- Sewing machine in good working order with a new needle
- Free-motion/darning foot for your machine
- Walking foot for your machine
- Coordinating thread
- 505 adhesive spray
- Rotary cutter and ruler
Optional: 0.75 m muslin for added stability when quilting
