Join our Skill-Building Block of the Month series, featuring one book from the popular quilting Block Tool collection. We’ve intentionally selected the most beginner-friendly volume, and this class will use it exclusively for all lessons and block construction.
Each session, students will create blocks from one book while learning new piecing and construction techniques. By the end of the series, you’ll have the skills and confidence to make any block in the book and a collection of finished blocks you can use however you like.
Although many students choose to save their blocks for a sampler quilt, you’re equally welcome to use them in other creative projects. A single block—or a small set—can be turned into items such as:
• Table runners
• Decorative pillows
• Tote bags or zipper pouches
• Wall hangings
• Placemats or mug rugs
• Notebook covers
• Small home-decor accents
The book is extremely user-friendly—no math required—and includes detailed cutting charts, exploded diagrams, colour examples, helpful tips, and 110 star blocks in five sizes.
This class is ideal for anyone who wants to build technique, gain confidence, and learn the fundamentals of block construction. Whether you’re brand new to quilting or looking to strengthen your skills, this series offers a relaxed, supportive environment to grow as you sew.

• Sewing machine in good working order
• Rotary cutter
• Quilting ruler
• Cutting mat
• Pins or clips
• Seam ripper

• Extra bobbins
Fabrics
• A mix of light, medium, and dark fabrics for your blocks
• Background fabric (solid or low-volume recommended)
• Optional: fat quarters, charm squares, or scraps for variety
