Dates:
Fridays, 10am–1pm — Jan 30th, Feb 13th & 27th, Mar 13th
Location: Newmarket
Instructor: Naomi B.
Join our Skill-Building Block of the Month series, inspired by one of our four quilting Block Tool Books.
Each session, students will create blocks from the book while learning new piecing and construction techniques. By the end of the series, you’ll have the skills and confidence to make any block in the book, along with enough finished blocks to assemble a 12-block sampler quilt (a suggested 3x4 layout). You can also explore different layouts, sizes, and designs to make your project truly your own.
The book is extremely user-friendly - no math required - featuring detailed cutting charts, exploded diagrams, colour examples, tips, and 110 star blocks in five sizes.
This class is ideal for students who want to build technique, gain confidence, and work steadily on a fun, skill-based project with guidance and community support. It leans toward an advanced beginner level, and students may choose whichever book and blocks inspire them most.
This class is also perfect for beginner sewers or anyone interested in learning how to quilt. Whether you want to simply learn to sew, make a small lap quilt, tackle a larger quilt, try new techniques so you can confidently continue on your own, create a pillow, experiment with rulers, or explore any project that excites you, the options are endless. Come learn, create, and enjoy!
