I recently used the Bernina Lap Seam Foot #71 to bind a quilt, and it proved to be an excellent tool for applying binding by machine. Attaching the binding with this foot made the process far smoother than when using a stitch-in-the ditch or walking foot.
The design allows the needle to stitch right along the edge of the binding, resulting in a clean, even finish. I especially liked how securely the fabric was guided—there was far less shifting, and the binding fed neatly and evenly. The visibility around the needle area also made it easy to ensure everything stayed aligned.
Since I like to install my binding by machine, this foot is a worthwhile investment for me as it helps to easily create a neat application. This video really helped to guide me through the process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9JrxzYPG0M&t=111s
