The Quilt Store is one of many stores across Canada that are participating in the Trans-Canada Block Party by Northcott Fabrics. Each store designs a block and gives away free patterns to customers visiting the store. Northcott selected blocks from 10 stores across Canada to participate in the Viewers Choice and we are so excited that our block made it into the top 10 of the Northcott Trans-Canada Block Party Shop Challenge!
Our block features feature
s the silhouette of a hockey player, which many know as Canada's "unofficial" national sport. The block was inspired by one of our staff members who plays women's hockey and as soon as she suggested it, the creative juices started flowing and voila! In addition to the inspiration provided by Deb, this theme seemed to be a logical choice as hockey and ice sports have always been a huge part of our life. My husband lives and breathes hockey, having played competitively and coached in his younger days he now lives vicariously through Hockey Night in Canada!!! As a young girl I figure skated and now both my daughters figure skate and spend as much time in the arena as they do pretty much anywhere else.
If you've been following the journey of Mrs. Bobbins & friends on their virtual tour across Canada you've seen all the exciting stores she's visited. We were thrilled to have a visit from Mrs. Bobbins at The Quilt Store on June 8th and also at our booth at Quilt Canada.

You can participate in the Trans-Canada Quilt Challenge by creating a quilt using Northcott Sesquecentennial fabric with a minimum of 6 blocks from participating stores. The top 13 quilts will be featured on Northcott’s social media where consumers will vote to choose the national winner. Winners will receive a $500 cash prize and a Bernina 570QE.
