In this exciting class you will learn how to cut and piece gentle curves with no measuring and no ¼” seams. You will also learn may tricks for raw edge applique and a new way of ‘schlaplique’ which frees up feelings of not being perfect at raw edge applique.
This class will teach you how to cut, and piece gentle curves with no measuring and no 1/4“ seams. You will learn horizontal and vertical piecing with curves. You will also learn many tricks for raw edge appliqué and a new way of "schlaplique " which frees up feelings of not being perfect at raw edge Applique. Once your background is finished we will then decide on "what" to Applique. It could be crows, bugs, flowers or anything of your choice. (Al will help with your drawing as required).
Instructor, Albert Cote was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario. He graduated from Brock University with a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts and a Bachelor of Education. While pursuing a very successful visual arts career he also owned and operated a successful hair salon for 36 years After his wife Debbie retired from teaching, they opened a Quilt Store in Niagara Falls. Albert soon got "hooked " on fabric and combined his visual arts with his quilting arts. Al soon retired to quilt full time. His very creative and innovative classes soon saw him travelling all across Ontario and the U.S. giving trunk shows and workshops. In 2012 he was honored to participate in "Culture Canada" and his very large piece which was created with fellow artists' Irma Bull and Suzi Dwor hangs in the Regional offices in St. Catharines, Ontario. He has many commissioned pieces throughout the area including seven pieces at Hospice Niagara.
