Love quilting and want to learn more about long-arm quilting?

The Quilt Store in Newmarket is looking for someone who is interested in long-arm quilting and eager to learn to join our growing team.

You do not need years of experience! If you have little or no long-arm experience but have a passion for quilting and would love the opportunity to learn, we’re happy to train the right person.

We have experienced long-arm quilters on our team who can help you learn and build your skills.

About the Position

This is a flexible position with no set or guaranteed hours. Work will be scheduled by appointment based on customer bookings and store needs.

The successful candidate will work with customers who have booked time on our long-arm quilting machine, providing guidance and assistance to help them complete their projects successfully.

Responsibilities Include:

Helping customers with long-arm machine rentals and appointments
Setting up and preparing the machine for customer use
Providing instruction and guidance on machine operation
Assisting customers with loading quilts and getting started
Troubleshooting basic machine and quilting issues
Helping customers with quilting techniques and best practices
Ensuring the machine and workspace are clean and ready for the next customer
Providing a friendly, positive and welcoming customer experience
Following store procedures for machine use, safety and care

What We’re Looking For?:

Ideally, you:
- Have experience with long-arm quilting - experience is an asset, but not required for the right person. If you’re passionate about quilting and eager to learn, we’re willing to train!
- Are comfortable operating and troubleshooting a long-arm quilting machine - or are enthusiastic about learning how to do so.
- Enjoy teaching and helping others and are happy to share your knowledge with customers.
- Are patient, friendly and approachable, with a willingness to work with quilters of all experience levels.
- Have excellent communication skills and enjoy working with people.
- Can work independently and are comfortable taking responsibility for customer appointments.
- Have a passion for quilting and are excited to continue learning and developing your skills.
- Are reliable and available for pre-booked customer appointments.
- Have basic computer skills - experience with quilting software or computerized long-arm machines is an asset.
Don't check every box? That's okay! We’re looking for the right person, not necessarily someone who already knows everything. If you have a passion for quilting, a willingness to learn, and the right attitude, we may be able to train you and help you develop your long-arm quilting skills.

Previous experience teaching or working with quilting customers is an asset.
