Following the success of our 2020 Color Builders, we're pleased to announce a brand new program for 2021. This years program heralds and highlights the very first thread weight produced by Aurifil: 40wt.
The 2021 Color Builder Subscription is a capsule of 12 mini-collections, each containing three large spools of 40wt thread -- a warm, a medium, and a dark.
Wound on a bold green spool, Aurifil's 40wt/2ply thread is every bit as versatile as Aurifil 50wt but with just a bit more strength. 40wt is tremendous for sewing bags and garments, or for when a more defined topstitching or quilting pattern is desired. It is also our number one recommended weight for quilting and machine embroidery.
This year Aurifil has drawn their color inspiration from 12 magnificent Endangered Species, currently in dire need of attention, advocacy, and compassion. Through the year, we’ll work toward affecting positive change via increased awareness and targeted fundraising. To help achieve these goals, Aurifil has partnered with Earth League International. Earth League International (ELI) Earth League International is an innovative non-governmental, non-profit organization that fights environmental/wildlife crime by merging the worlds of conservation, intelligence, analysis, whistleblowing, and media production. They are building the first intelligence agency for the planet.
Each month you will receive a collection of three colour coordinated spools to build you "thread stash". Inspired by and named after 12 magnificent Endangered species, Color Builders are a unique series of 12 curated thread sets. Each collection contains 3 large spools of Aurifil's premium 40 wt. Mako cotton. The colors have been selected by a group of quilters to meet every sewing and quilting need, along with an impeccable aesthetic appearance.
BONUS!!! Each month, members of the club will also receive:
- A foundation paper pieced BOM that can be finished as 12 individual mini quilts or pieced together to create a full quilt. Each block serves as a tribute to an endangered species.
- Twelve individual machine embroidery patterns inspired by our featured animals. Patterns will include all primary machine embroidery files.
